Rev. Bruce Yarrow delivered the Resurrection Sunday message after Easter (March 31, 2024). However, EVERY Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, Amen?
The Scripture portion was Luke 24:12 (NKJV). "Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? ' He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ And they remembered His words. Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles. And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them. But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened." Rev. Yarrow pointed out that it is good to ponder and meditate upon the powerful and awesome event of Jesus Christ's resurrection and what it means for us collectively and individually. It brings us eternal life, healing, forgiveness, a future and a hope. Worship music provided by Nobuko Clausen for the songs, "Low In The Grave He Lay and "The Old Rugged Cross." Alliance Canada missionaries to Mexico, Rick & Susan Kilbrai, spoke this Sunday at our early Easter Service. The theme was "An Unknown Path." This is when God calls you to a certain path, but does not reveal everything about it right away. Instead, He wants you to come close to Him through prayer and praise, and follow Him step by step as He reveals them. This was a testimony of their missionary journey to Mexico. They shared what they were doing, how the community and area churches were being impacted, and a glimpse of the future of their ministry. There were many beautiful pictures and an information table bedecked with sombrero, doll, and other artifacts of Mexico. This was a lovely and God-uplifting service.
Afterward, we had our annual Easter Potluck, complete with sushi platters, desserts, noodle dishes, kimchi, daikon pickles, and many other wonderful Japanese foods. Hot tea, juice, and punch were served as well. The fellowship was amazing, people were so friendly and happy. Much agape love was passed between us in the form of warm embraces, held hands, and delighted exclamations. What wonderful fellowship! It was good to see the familiar faces of those who have been to our potluck in the years past. The service was at 2 p.m. and the gathering ended at 5 p.m. Three glorious hours of a diverse group of Japanese, Korean, Biracial, African, Mexican and European people of all ages. Worshipful music was provided by Bill Roberts. It was a joyful little taste of heaven! Christmas Service クリスマス礼拝 Our Christmas Service was held with lots of attendants. Rev. Reimer gave a good message titled "The Word Became Flesh." After the service, we enjoyed our customary tasty Christmas potluck dinner. We had our Candle Light Service with lots of candles. This is JAC's way of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ with candle lights. This service reminded each of us that "God's word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path"(Psalm 119:105). We got Rev. Edward Yoshida to come over for the weekend of Sep. 6-8th, 2013. Pastor Yoshida is from Wesley Chapel, Toronto. He shared passionate messages with the theme of "LETTERS FROM PATMOS (Letters of the Apostle John)". This enabled each of us to open our hearts and receive the heart-warming love from God. Nearly thirty people including children gathered on the Sunday service (picture taken) and had the loving fellowship of one another. We thank Pastor Yoshida for this dedicated ministry in Winnipeg. We held our annual Church Family Camp at Birds Hill Park for the weekend of Aug. 8-11.
